If you do not shake your duvet and pillow often, even the finest quality duvets and pillows will deteriorate over time. It is also important that you shaking your duvet and pillow, instead of knocking them, as this can damage the filling. It is recommended that duvets and pillows are shaken daily.
Airing your duvet and pillow is also important if you want a good sleeping environment. By airing your duvet and pillow, you ensure that all the moisture is allowed to escape from the duvet and pillow. This is important to prevent mold and fungus from growing in the duvet and pillow. You can simply air your duvet and pillow outside every 14 days, but it is recommended that the bedroom is aired frequently, so that the duvet and pillow get fresh air. When airing the duvet and pillow outside, it is important that this is done in the shade. Down duvets and pillows in particular do not tolerate direct sunlight as this can damage the lanolin in the down.
Tip: It's really good to air out duvets and pillows on a frosty morning, as the humidity here is very low.
