Why should I choose linen bedding?
Linen has been used to sew clothes for centuries, but in the field of bedding, linen has not had nearly as much use as, for example, cotton. Fortunately, linen has recently had a renaissance, as more and more people have discovered the material's stylish appearance and fantastic properties.
Sustainable, comfortable and durable: Here are the benefits of linen
Many people associate linen with being a rough fabric that scratches and wrinkles. But in fact, linen has a whole lot of fantastic properties that are overlooked due to the prejudices that exist about the material. For example, did you know that with a linen bedding set you get a natural material that is less harmful to the environment than cotton? It does not require nearly as much energy to produce as cotton, but still has a lot of good, natural properties that make for a comfortable sleeping experience. Are you in doubt whether a linen bedding set is suitable for your bedroom? Then read here what you can expect from a linen bedding set.
Linen is getting softer and softer
Linen is a natural material that comes from the flax plant. It has a matte surface and a rougher feel than, for example, cotton, but becomes softer and softer with each wash.
Linen bedding is naturally temperature-regulating
Linen bedding is naturally temperature-regulating because it adapts to your body temperature. In the summer, linen bedding conducts heat away from your body, while in the winter it retains your body heat. This way, you get a comfortable sleeping experience all year round.
Linen bedding is hypoallergenic
The natural fiber structure of linen prevents dust and other allergens from accumulating in the fabric. This makes linen an obvious choice for people who suffer from allergies or sensitive skin and want a comfortable sleep that is not disturbed by unpleasant allergic reactions.
Linen bedding is more environmentally friendly
Flax is a more sustainable choice because the flax plant needs much less water than, for example, cotton, and is grown with minimal chemicals and without the use of synthetic fertilizers. And flax is biodegradable, which means that after a long life, it can actually break down in nature.
Other benefits of linen bedding
If you are looking for bedding that combines comfort and sustainability, then you have come to the right place. At Nordic Weaving, we offer a quality selection of linen bedding in different sizes and colors. Here you will find only the very best for your bedroom.
Linen bedding is naturally dirt and bacteria repellent
There are many microorganisms that would like to keep us company overnight, but the natural structure of the fibers in linen makes the material resistant to bacteria and dirt. This makes linen the perfect choice for those who want a fresh and clean bedroom.
Frequently asked questions about linen bedding
What are the benefits of linen bedding?
Linen bedding has some unique natural properties. It is breathable, temperature-regulating and extremely durable. With linen bedding, you give your bedroom a stylish Scandinavian look and get a material that keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer.
How do I maintain my linen bedding?
One of the great things about linen is that it gets softer and softer with each wash. We recommend that you machine wash your linen bedding at a maximum of 40°. Linen fibers are naturally antiseptic, so you don't need to boil it, as you would with cotton, for example. You should avoid bleach, as it can damage the linen fibers. Linen should not be put in the dryer, as it dries quickly. We recommend that you stretch the fabric into shape before hanging it to dry.
What other types of bedding can you recommend?
If it's important to you that your sleeping experience is silky smooth, linen may not be your first choice. Because while the material will soften and bleed with each wash, it will never achieve the smoothness of Egyptian cotton or silk bedding. If you want a material that has a completely smooth feel, we recommend that you take a look at our selection of Egyptian cotton bedding or silk bedding .
