The durability of your pillow is extended when you wash it. If the pillow is not washed, the down and feathers will clump together over time. This can make the pillow appear thinner and also reduce the qualities of the pillow.

However, it is important that the pillow is washed properly and the washing instructions are followed correctly, otherwise you risk that the pillow will lose its load-bearing capacity and will no longer provide your head and neck with the proper support.

Are you unsure about how to wash your pillow? We've gathered everything you need to know in this blog post so you can wash your pillow properly.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU WASH YOUR PILLOW?

It is very individual how much you sweat and how sensitive you are when it comes to odors and hygiene. If you take a good look at your pillow, you can often judge for yourself whether it needs a wash. If it is damp or has taken on a yellowish tone, you can give it a wash in the washing machine. We recommend that you wash your pillow twice a year at 60 degrees, so that living organisms such as dust mites and mold are eradicated.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO WASH YOUR PILLOW?

It is a time-consuming process when the pillow needs to be washed, so we recommend that you set aside a few hours for it. Not only does it take time to wash the pillow, but the drying process in particular is long. The process is long, but necessary so that you can sleep with a clean pillow and maintain hygiene. In the summer, we can also recommend that you air your pillow outside by hanging it up - this gives your pillow a nice, fresh scent.

PILLOW WASHING GUIDE FROM END TO END

  1. Before washing your pillow, it is wise to check the seams in case there are any holes.
  2. Find the washing instructions on the side of the pillow and read them carefully.
  3. If you have a down pillow, it is important to wash it with enzyme-free detergent, as it can remove the natural fat layer on the down - if necessary, use detergents specially developed for washing down.
  4. You can also put a few tennis balls in the washing machine so that the pillow's filling is distributed evenly and does not clump.
  5. Wash the pillow at 60 degrees to eliminate dust mites and other bacteria.

Types of Pillowcases: Bamboo and Silk

When it comes to choosing pillowcases, there are many different materials to choose from. Two of the most popular and luxurious materials are bamboo and silk. Both materials have unique properties that make them ideal for pillowcases.

Bamboo: Bamboo pillowcases are known for their softness and durability. They are naturally hypoallergenic, making them ideal for those with sensitive skin or allergies. Bamboo is also a highly breathable material, meaning it helps regulate temperature and keeps you cool at night. Additionally, bamboo is environmentally friendly, as it is a fast-growing resource that does not require pesticides or irrigation.

Silk: Silk pillowcases are the ultimate in luxury and comfort. Silk is incredibly soft and smooth, which means it is gentle on the skin and hair. This can help reduce wrinkles and prevent hair breakage. Silk is also naturally hypoallergenic and resistant to house dust mites. In addition, silk has natural temperature-regulating properties, making it ideal for both hot and cold nights.

Whether you choose bamboo or silk, you will experience improved sleep quality and comfort. Both materials are investments in your sleep and well-being.
